This old-fashioned cocktail, named for the French 75 mm gun of World War I, is nearly extinct outside of New Orleans. This is very refreshing, provided you like champagne.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

    Into a cocktail shaker, place 3 ice cubes, gin, sugar, and lemon juice. Shake very well with flair.

    Strain contents of shaker into a champagne glass, then top off the glass with champagne. Serve immediately.
