Ham Marinade

Recipe #32063 | 25 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: luvmybge
Jun 24, 2002

This marinade tones down the saltiness of a ham slice. It's delicious if you grill the ham slice after marinating. The time does not include marinating time.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 large ham steak (you can cut it into servings before marinating to make them easier to handle while grilling)

Marinade

Directions

  1. 1
    Mix all marinade ingredients.
  2. 2
Put ham and marinade in resealable plastic bag.
  3. 3
Marinate ham slice a few hours or overnight.
  4. 4
Fire up the grill or broiler or even heat in a pan on top of the stove.
  5. 5
Cook ham until done and heated through.
  6. 6
    Baste during cooking.

Exactly as promised it toned down the saltiness of ham, the one reason I don't make ham often. I tried it the OAMC way, as per Pam, and it turned out very good. I will be making ham a lot more often now with this marinade.

This marinade I will definetly make!! It would not only be great cooked with a ham steak, but a ham slow cooked in a crock pot. This would also work well with Pork Chops! Thank you Luvmybge!! Love, becky

This marinade worked perfectly for the ham slices that I used. It definitely eliminated the saltiness and gave it a wonderful flavor. I marinated it overnight and then grilled it, basting occasionally as it cooked. Thank you for sharing.

I marinade the ham in this a couple hours, then cooked in in a skillet on the stove. I added some marinade to the pan, let it reduce, added some more marinade, until it was all used. I ended up with a citrusy, sweet sauce on my ham. I used orange juice in my marinade. Also, I reduced the dry mustard to 1 tsp., and left out the ginger. No one dislikes ginger as much as my dh. Great recipe!
