Ham Balls

Recipe #31844 | 1¼ hours | 35 min prep | add private note

(I was given this recipe a few years ago). It is one everyone will ask for. I took it once to a Birthday Party and was asked for the recipe by at least 5 people including the host. These can be served for dinner on rice or taken to parties and kept warm in a crockpot until serving. They can also be made ahead of time and frozen.

50 small balls (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Ham Balls

Sauce

Directions

  1. 1
(3 batches of sauce is best when filling a crockpot with a double batch of balls) Ham Balls: Mix all together, gradually adding milk at the end to moisten enough to form balls.
  2. 2
Bake balls on a cookie sheet for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, drain fat and cool.
  3. 3
Sauce: Mix togther, heat and simmer 10 minutes until well blended.

These are really wonderful and a great way to use leftover ham! My kids LOVED them which is a 10-star recipe in my book. Used whole wheat bread crumbs instead of cracker crumbs. Ran the ham through the food processor, then the onion and green pepper, so prep was very fast. Served with rice. Sauce is very sweet but pairs nicely with the saltiness of the ham. Thought leftovers were even better the next day. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!

These are very good. I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't put any milk into the meat mixture. They came out moist without any milk. I doubled the recipe and ended up with 169 ham balls! I wanted the meatballs to be small enough for a toothpick to hold them without their falling off. I rolled them about 1 1/4 inch diameter, give or take. It took a couple of hours to make them, but I'd say it was worth it. As recommended, I tripled the sauce recipe, but I don't think that was necessary. I ended up with much more sauce than needed. Very nice flavor and texture. Thanks, Tara, for a tasty change from regular cocktail meatballs!

I had some leftover ham in the freezer from my son's wedding in july so I wanted to use it up before it went bad. This recipe caught my eye so I whipped it up & as it turned out had some unexpected company for dinner both my husband & the guest loved it, also made up a plate for a widower, with rice & fresh carrots out of the garden made a wonderful meal with the sauce over the rice too loved it
