From GourMed Magazine online. I have no idea how much this makes.

SERVES 50 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Combine the cherries, sugar and spices in a large wide-mouthed jar.

    Seal and place in a hot, sunny place.
  3. 3
    Leave the mixture to "cook" in the sun for 40 days, shaking the contents once a day.
  4. 4
    At the end of this period, add the brandy.
  5. 5
    Store in a cool, dry place for another two weeks.
  6. 6
    Decant into individual bottles.
  7. 7
    Serve as desired.
