A cooked dressing equally at home on lettuce or dandelion salad, asparagus, cucumbers or on fish. From the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947.

1 1/2 cups (change servings and units)

Directions

  1. 1
    Mix first four ingredients; add vinegar and water and cook in a double boiler until thickened, stirring constantly.
  2. 2
    Pour over egg yolk and butter, return to heat and cook a few minutes longer.
  3. 3
    Cool in refrigerator; fold in sour cream.
