Marcia's Oatmeal.

Recipe #31145 | 10 min | 5 min prep | add private note

I made this up because I needed to like oatmeal, and I didn't. Now I eat it all the time! Measuring out several days worth of the dry ingredients saves me a lot of time each morning and I never forget the salt!

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. 2
    Boil water.
  3. 3
Add dry ingredients, and remove pot from heat.
  4. 4
Cover and let sit until you are ready for breakfast.
  5. 5
    This serves 1 person.
  6. 6
I make up several batches at a time, so that all I have to do most mornings is boil water and add the oatmeal mix.

I really liked this oatmeal, but I think I'd like it even better made with skim milk instead of water. Way better than the instant packs though, and since I need to eat oatmeal everyday, this is one of the ways I'll eat it. Thanks!

I do exactly the same thing and have for years! I like to add some fresh chopped apple at the beginning. It is yummy and helps me get my daily fruits and veg in, but don't forget the raisins as well! I have also added banana, strawberries, raspberries(just before serving), chopped pears, the possibilities are endless when beginning with this recipe!

Every day , Summer or Winter, I make porridge for Dad's brekkie....he was becoming tired of the same thing even though he still wants porrige...so I tried this one. He LOVED it. The secret is in the soaking. The texture was spot on, flavour was gently spicy...will be making it again.
