Hearty Cheese 'n Toast

A quick and easy TOH recipe that makes uses of leftover cooked meat. I listed ham as the meat ingredient, b/c that is what I have fixed it with, but turkey, chicken, or beef would be good, too.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    In a saucepan, melt butter over medium high heat.
  2. 2
    Stir in flour to form a smooth paste.
  3. 3
    Gradually stir in milk.
  4. 4
    Cook and stir until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  5. 5
    Add the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, caraway (optional), and pepper.
  6. 6
    Stir until well blended.
  7. 7
    Add the cheese; cook and stir over low heat until melted.
  8. 8
    Cut toast diagonally and place on individual plates.
  9. 9
    Top each with a slice of meat.
  10. 10
    Spoon cheese sauce over the meat and toast.

    Serve immediately.

I really loved this recipe. I used some leftover marinated turkey tenderloin and poured a LOT of the cheese sauce on top, then sprinkled it with the caraway seeds. If you like a lot of the sauce you might need to double it. Thanks for a keeper. Made for Holiday Tag.
