From an Aussie BBQ Cookbook, a very mild tasting alternative to garlic bread, it's best to use butter rather than margarine for this one.

SERVES 6 -8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Slice bread into 2cm slices without cutting through base.
  2. 2
Thoroughly mix remaining ingredients together and spread on both sides of bread.
  3. 3
Wrap loaf in foil and heat through in oven or on BBQ for 20-30 minutes.

I know that the filling is not suppose to be on top. But I could not open each slices to spead it. So I put everything on top. My baguette was too hard. It was still delicious. A bit messy and yummy. Thanks Mandy. Made for Beverage tag.

This was great! I used a french bread loaf since the baguettes we get here are like rocks lol. I think I should have let it cook a bit longer, but dinner was done and we were too hungry to wait. To mix the butter spread I put it all in a food processor and then nuked it just a few seconds to make it soft enough to really mix everything together. I sprinkled the cheese on top which ended up to not be the best idea since it all stuck to the foil so I think next time I would just sprinkle some in each section. Oh and for the cheese we used mozzarella. Was a nice change from garlic bread.
