Kittencal's Jalapeno-Cream Cheese Stuffed Hamburgers

Recipe #299690 | 40 min | 20 min prep | add private note

You may omit the jalapeno if desired and you may use whatever else you want to flavor your burgers with just do NOT omit the cream cheese in the middle and add in the onion soup mix and garlic to the hambuger mixture --when I make these I use 2 scant tablespoons of cream cheese for each burger, you may want to reduce to 1 tablespoon if desired --- these may be fully prepared covered with plastic wrap and refrigerated until ready to grill --- these burgers are very good!

SERVES 8 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Set grill to medium heat.
  2. 2
    Oil the grill grates.
  3. 3
In a bowl stir together the softened cream cheese with jalapeno pepper; mix until combined.
  4. 4
In a bowl combine the ground beef with onion soup mix and garlic, then add whatever other seasonings you desire, egg, breadcrumbs, Worcestershire sauce, etc (do not add in any extra salt to the ground beef mixture as the dry onion soup mixture already has enough salt).
  5. 5
    Divide into 16 equal portions.
  6. 6
Pat out each portion to about 1/3-inch thickeness (can make a little larger if desired).
  7. 7
Spoon 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese into the center of 8 patty (do not spread out the mixture).
  8. 8
Top with remaining patties, pressing down the edges to seal the meat together.
  9. 9
Grill for about 10 minutes per side or until well done (do NOT press down on the burgers while cooking or this will make the cheese come out).
  10. 10
Serve on buns with favorite toppings.

Delicious! Just as I was preparing for dinner, more guests arrived so I improvised-for 1 lb. of meat, I used 1/2 the cream cheese w/ jalapenos; for another lb, I used 1/2 the cream cheese mixed w/ shredded cheddar and crumbled bacon; for another lb, I used shredded pepper jack and bacon. I don't know who got what but all were raving how great they were!!! Served w/ Barbecue Potatoes (Oven or Grill), Almost Marzetti's Slaw Dressing, and Grilled Pineapple Slices w/ cinnamon ice cream. Thank you, Kitten, for your great recipe and the ideas it sparked!!!

I made the whole recipe twice and each time I've made 7 burgers — but I end up freezing for later. So freakin' good. I do add panko breadcrumbs and egg white to bind it. The first time I made them I didn't seal the edges good enough, this time, I used the extra burger meat from what would have been burger #8 to seal the edges & fill any holes before cooking. Thanks so much!

That was one of the best burgers I ate. And as I love stuffed jalapenos with cream cheese, these burgers tasted like that. We did half the recipe so 4 burgers. We put 2 in the freezer for later. For half the recipe we had to divide in 8. But next time we'll try dividing in 6. Cause the burgers were so small. I omitted the dry onion soup mix. It was only ground beef LOL I was too lazy. Thanks Kit. Made for Newest Zaar tag.
