A pioneer recipe originating from the great state of Maine. From the New England chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947

Ingredients

Directions

    Mince vegetables finely; add salt and let stand overnight.
  2. 2
    Drain; add vinegar and brown sugar.
  3. 3
    Tie cinnamon,cloves and mustard in a small cheesecloth bag.
  4. 4
    Boil everything together for about 30 minutes.
  5. 5
    Remove spice bag, pour into sterilized jars and seal.
