Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls

Recipe #287059 | 2 hours | 2 hours prep | add private note
Chef on the coast

This comes from the guy who wrote the More Top Secret Recipes books. When we made it - we were surprised it actually tasted like the ones from the Cinnabon Store! I thought they were too cinnamony for our tastes so I decrease that amount. The original amount I am posting. Use what works for you.

SERVES 12 , 12 cinnamon rolls (change servings and units)

Directions

  1. 1
Rolls: Dissolve yeast in warm milk in large bowl. Add remaining roll ingredients. Mix well.
  2. 2
Knead dough into large ball using hands dusted lightly with flour. Cover and let rise until double. About 1 hour.
  3. 3
Roll dough onto lightly floured surface into 21x16 inch rectangle. Should be about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. 4
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  5. 5
Filling: Combine brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. 6
Spread softened margarine evenly over the surface of dough.
  7. 7
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar evenly over surface.
  8. 8
Working carefully from a 21 inch side, roll dough to opposite edge.
  9. 9
Cut rolled dough into 1 3/4 inch slices - for a total of 12.
  10. 10
Place 6 rolls on each lightly greased cookie sheet.
  11. 11
Bake 10 minutes or until lightly brown.
  12. 12
While rolls are in oven: combine icing ingredients until fluffy.
  13. 13
Coat each cinnamon roll generously with icing after removing from oven.

This recipe is exactly like three others on Zaar except for an optional item here or there. I made these today, turned out really good. I found the dough to be too sweet for me, but the family polished off all the rolls in no time, I guess they enjoyed them wouldn't you say. I will make again but maybe reduce the sugar in the rolls to 1/3 cup and also used 2 tbsp. cinnamon only, that was plenty.
