How to Make an Ice Ring

This is a GREAT way to make an ice ring for you punch, to keep it cold and tasty! By using punch instead of water your punch won't get diluted as it melts. If you want to make ice cubes use ice cube trays or styrofoam egg cartons. The preparation time is time to make each layer, and does not include the time to freeze each layer.

1 mold (change servings and units)

Ingredients

  • 1 orange, sliced (as many slices as you like)
  • 1 lemon, sliced (as many slices as you like)
  • 1 lime, sliced (as many slices as you like)
  • 1 (8 ounce) jar maraschino cherries (as many as you like)
  • 1 (2 liter) bottle fruit punch (as much as needed to fill the mold)

Directions

  1. 1
Layer one of the fruits and some of the punch (1" at a time) in a ring mold.
  2. 2
Freeze each layer before adding the next layer.
  3. 3
Layer with as many fruits as you want in your mold.
  4. 4
When the ring mold is frozen solid, and ready to put in the punch bowl, sit mold in hot water for 1 minute. This will help to make it come out of the mold easily.

Excellent idea!!! I made punch, So Simple Punch, for my DD's college graduation and wanted an ice ring to float in it, to help keep it cold. (I made 2 molds, in case the first one melted fast). The mold looked so pretty floating in the punch (I used my tupperware mold, but a plastic bowl would work just fine too) and it did the trick of keeping the punch nice and cold all evening! The citrus in the punch gave it a great flavor too. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Made this ring to go in Punch for our holiday barbecue today. Worked great and kept our punch nice and cold and deliciously flavored. Loved all the citrusy flavor from the fruits. I will use this often when I make my punch from now on!
