Cinnamon Apple Crumble

A nice alternative to a heavy apple pie dessert. Quick to put together.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a 2 quart glass baking dish (or clay baker is fine too).
  2. 2
    Combine apples and orange juice in a large bowl.
  3. 3
    Stir in sugar, cornstarch, vanilla, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon; toss to coat apples.
  4. 4
    Spoon apple mixture into prepared dish.
  5. 5
    Combine brown sugar, flour, remaining 1/2 tsp cinnamon and nutmeg in a medium bowl.
  6. 6
    Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is coarse and crumbly and then stir in oats.
  7. 7
    Sprinkle topping mixture over apple mixture.
  8. 8
    Bake for 25-30 minutes until apples are tender.

I omitted the nutmeg. After 25 minutes of cooking it was ready. This is so simple to do. One of my favorite desserts. I've always loved apple crumble. Thanks Hokies for posting. Made for 123 hit wonders.

    This is a good dish. I followed ingredients per the recipe except I 1&1/2 the topping ingredients. Made for BT 2008
