This will harden and it will harden quickly! it's the perfect icing to decorate cookies, if desired you may omit the vanilla, I like to add it in

SERVES 40 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a bowl beat the sifted confectioners sugar with milk until smooth.
  2. 2
Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until smooth and glossy (if icing is too thick add in a small amount of corn syrup).
  3. 3
Divide into as many separate bowls as desired.
  4. 4
Add in different food colourings to each bowl beating/whisking until the intensity is acheived.
  5. 5
Paint the icing over the cookies using a brush or dip the cookie edges into icing (this will set quicky!).
  6. 6
Place cookies on waxed paper to dry.

Kitten - perfect!! Thank you for recommending it!! I made hand shaped cutout cookies and used this glaze to frost them. And I added the silver balls to the ring finger for a wedding band - they were adorable!

This is fabulous icing! It really looks beautiful on sugar cookies and adds a lovely sweetness to them. I used a little more than 1 tablespoon milk and didn't use almond extract. It dries very quickly but it is very easy to spread on cookies. It leaves behind a glossy shine. Thanks so much for sharing Kittencal! I'll be using this again!

This worked well, once I got the consistency right. I used a paint brush and applied 1 light coat and then immediately a heavier coat. This took about 2 hours to set up so that I could stack them. I made cookies that looked like schnauzer dogs and have submitted a photo. I would recommend this frosting. Keep in mind that this won't taste like buttercream frosting. It is good but different than a fluffy tasting frosting.
