This recipe came from a lady from the Philippines, her DH was going to graduate school with my DH. My children love this, they call them "egg rolls". Sometimes I add carrots, or some other sauces.

SERVES 10 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine all ingredients except egg roll wrappers and cook until warmed through in a saucepan.
  2. 2
Wrap 1-2 T of mixture in each egg roll wrapper, sealing edges with water.
  3. 3
I put oil about 1" deep in fry pan.
  4. 4
Fry in oil in frying pan until egg rolls are golden and crispy.
  5. 5
I fry first half until brown then turn over and brown other side.

Great recipe!!!! My son helped roll them. And so nice that it made exactly the package size, so no leftover wrappers or filling!!! We dipped in plum sauce. Made for ZWT 4.

I made these for ZWT4. Growing up in a military family we enjoyed lumpia a lot when I was a child. This recipe was great. We made the filling exactly as written. My wrappers weren't the right kind and puffed up a bit but it didn't effect the taste. We dipped them in sweet and sour sauce and there were no leftovers!

I made these for our supper tonight. Tasty and easy to assemble. I have not deep fried anything myself for years, so I made mistakes like I had the oil higher than 375 degrees which was not good. I also should have realized, just like baking cookies, that they would still cook once removed so mine were too brown. Thanks Lavender Lynn for sharing. Made for ZWT4 the Flying Dutchess'.

My 20 DD and I made these for lunch today and they are delicious!!! The only change we made to the recipe is that I used spring roll wrappers rather than egg roll wrappers. Made for ZWT 2008. Thanks LavenderLynn!!
