Winona's Perfect Golden Fry Batter

Recipe #257133 | 5 min | 5 min prep | 1 cup approximately (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: Miss Annie

This is the recipe my Mom has used for many years. We have an annual shrimp fry, and this is the perfect batter. Veggies, chicken, and even dill pickle slices are great using this fry batter!

Posted on: Oct 4, 2007

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup cooking oil
  • 1/2 cup flour, plus
  • tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg, small
  • Directions

    1. 1
      Stir oil into the flour.
    2. 2
Add milk and egg, whipping with whisk until smooth.
    3. 3
Mixture should have the consistency of heavy cream. If it is too thick, add milk one tablespoon at a time until until it "looks right".
    4. 4
The perfect breading with this batter is cracker meal. Just whirl the crackers in your processor until it is very fine.
