A tasty turkey snack using an easy dough recipe! Includes rising time. I have used different sliced meats and cheese combo as well as spices. Feel free to mix it up!

SERVES 16 , 16 rolls (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Dough

Filling

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 400.
  2. 2
Combine yeast warm water and oil and let sit for about 5 minutes. Stir in salt and flour a little at a time until mixed.
  3. 3
Knead for a few minutes until soft adding a little flour if needed.
  4. 4
Put in an oiled bowl and cover for about 20-30 minutes until well risen.
  5. 5
Roll dough out onto a rectangle with dough being thinner than pizza crust.
  6. 6
Top dough evenly with slices of turkey then cheese then sprinkle with spices.
  7. 7
Roll very tightly like making cinnamon rolls.
  8. 8
    Slice into about 16 rolls.
  9. 9
Place on greased baking sheet and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until nicely browned.
  10. 10
Baking time will really depend on how thin or thick you roll out your dough so watch carefully!
  11. 11
To make ahead bake as directed then cool and put in freezer bags and freeze. To serve pop in the microwave until heated through.

Just made these. I too had problems with the dough and have been making breads for ohhhh 20 years? I think next time I'll add baking soda as the dough though tasty, I thought would rise more when cooking. Yet this is so simple, fun and TASTY! Deinitely great for kids and kids at heart.

Wow! these were great! I made a spicy brown mustard with honey and horseradish dip to go with them, Just a dab will do it onto a pinwheel, but ate em warm out of the oven, Yummy! (Grrrr I wish my camera was working! Mine looked so pretty too).

I tried making the dough but it didn't work. I know I made a few mistakes so I thought I would share them so that they can be avoided. I used whole wheat flour first of all which I think was an issue. I also wasn't sure what kind of yeast to use so I used instant. Also...after reading the recipe I wasn't sure where the brown sugar was suppose to be added. I am an amateur cook so I could not figure these things out on my own. My dough ended up flakey and there was a lot of left over loose flour that wouldn't mix in. They look sooo good though. I think I will have my Mother-In-Law help me.

These were outrages.... They were so simple and easy to fix and they were enjoyed by all... My 4 yr. old DS said, "These are really really good mom." I will be making this and freezing them and they will be my lunch when I start back teaching.... I can't wait to try them with maybe some roast beef and cheddar, or ham and swiss.... The possibilities are endless.... Thanks so much for sharing these.....
