This was given to me by a friend of mine. Very simple and tastes great! Can skip the salt pork for a vegetarian version.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Rinse beans and pick over.
  2. 2
    Bring beans and 8 cups of water to a boil.
  3. 3
    Reduce heat, simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours.
  4. 4
    Pour beans and liquid into a bowl; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  5. 5
    Drain beans, reserving 1 cup of liquid.
  6. 6
    Place beans and reserved liquid in Crock Pot.
  7. 7
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
  8. 8
    cover and cook on low for 12 to 14 hours.
  9. 9
    Stir before serving.
