Homemade Syrup

Tasty, basic, and cheap!
SERVES 56
Ingredients
- 4 cups white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons maple extract or flavoring
Directions

Mix the water with the two sugars.2
Simmer for 15 minutes.3
Remove from heat, and stir in maple flavoring.4
This may form crystals but can be reheated.5
Does not need to be refrigerated.

We were out of our favorite pure maple syrup tonight and the kids were having pancakes for dinner. I halved the recipe and used vanilla extract instead of maple due to chemical allergies (we can't have fake flavorings.) It worked out fine, was quick and easy and of course, cheap!! Thanks so much for saving dinner!

Thank you for this recipe. I am trying to replace as much as I can that is store bought with high fructose corn syrup in it. This syrup has a good consistency.

Hi Wildheart: Just tried your YUMMIE Homemade Syrup this morning. It's not only tasty, basic, and cheap, it's just wonderful, that's all! Great taste, fast and easy to mix, pretty easy on the pocketbook! I followed your directions, but because there are just two of us here, I cut everything in half and simmered for about 10 min.
