Frozen Watermelon Margaritas for a Crowd

Recipe #223966 | 20 min | 20 min prep | SERVES 8 (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: justcallmetoni

Thinking ahead to Cinco de Mayo and stumbled on this recipe. Thought others might want to join me for the occasion so I am posting this untried.

Posted on: Apr 22, 2007

Ingredients

  • cups watermelon, seeded & cubed
  • 1 (6 ounce) can frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1/2-2/3 cup tequila
  • tablespoons sugar
  • 2 lime, for garnish
  • Directions

    1. 1
Place the seeded watermelon cubes in a sealable plastic bag and freeze for a minimum of 8 hours. You can do this days ahead if you are planning a party.
    2. 2
Before starting to make the beverage itself, cut one of your limes into 8 wedges for garnish. Cut the second lime in quarters and use it to moisten the rim of of your serving glasses. Place the sugar in a shallow bowl or small (dessert) plate. One by one, wipe the rim of each glass with the quartered lime, then dip in the sugar until you have a nice rim.
    3. 3
Place half of the frozen watermelon, along with half the limeade and tequilla in a blender.
    4. 4
Blend until the beverage is mixed and there are no fruit bits but it is still frosty and slushy.
    5. 5
Pour into prepared glass and serve with a lime wedge for garnish.
    6. 6
Repeat with second half of ingredients.

I froze the watermelon for 4 hours and they were fine to use. I also added a couple ice cubes to the blender. The melon was very sweet so I use sugar! Love the use on limeade. And I went for 2/3`s of the tequila. Garnished with watermelon. This is Delish a must try. Thanks Toni!

I did only 2 servings. My watermelons were frozen since last week. Since I don't know what is limeade, I used frozen pink lemonade. Maybe it's not the same thing but it was delicious. For 2 servings, it says 1/8 - 1/4 tequila. I used 1/4 tequila. Thanks Toni
