An excellent choice on any morning you need comfort food. It's warm, easy, hearty, and healthy- not to mention perfectly sweet and creamy! Start your day off right!

SERVES 1 , 1 yummy bowlful (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
For absolute best, creamiest results, soak the oats overnight in the water, in a small pot.
  2. 2
In the morning, bring the oats and water to a boil, stir, lower heat and cover. Let it bubble gently, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes. Around when it starts to stick, remove from heat and leave covered for 3 minutes. (This ensures that none is stuck to the pot, and also helps creaminess.).
  3. 3
Meanwhile, as it's cooking assemble the other ingredients.
  4. 4
Pour oatmeal into your serving bowl. Stir in other ingredients, top with additional ground flax if desired, and enjoy immediately!
  5. 5
Double or triple accordingly, it comes out perfect.

This is such a filling and satisfying breakfast Amber. I used shredded apples, flax, brownsugar, cinnamon, and a handful of granola on top. Lucious. Thanks!!! Tagged and made for March's Beverage Tag 08

Very good. Loved the dash of cinnamon. I used 2% milk which worked well for us. Toasted some pecans in place of walnuts because that was what I had. Liked the flax seeds in this. Thanks WRC for sharing this great morning breakfast.

Apples and walnuts and cinnamon, Oh My! Oatmeal is my standard brekkie and this is really delightful. I used just a bit of French Vanilla non-dairy creamer and no syrup at all. It's ideal for the winter, all hot and yummy with fruit and nuts. With a mug of vanilla coffee I was all set and happy. Thanks for posting this I'll be making it again without doubt.

This will be my go too way to make oatmeal from now on. I used pecans and regular skim milk with a dash of vanilla. I also made this a second time and used mashed banana instead of apple. YUMMY! Thanks for this great recipe.
