The Best Amish Meatloaf Recipe

Recipe #207100 | 1½ hours | 15 min prep | add private note

By: SquadLeader
Jan 22, 2007

After traveling in eastern Ohio and eating many different "Amish-style" meatloaves, I finally asked for this wonderful meatloaf recipe. This one is not as sweet as the typical Amish recipe and has some garlic flavoring in it. We love it!!

SERVES 4 -6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

FOR SAUCE

Directions

  1. 1
Mix first 7 ingredients throughly together and pack into a loaf pan.
  2. 2
Next put the strips of bacon on top and bake for an hour at 350F degrees.
  3. 3
While waiting, mix the sauce ingredients together.
  4. 4
After the hour is up, pour and smooth the sauce onto the meatloaf and cook another 15 to 20 minutes. I have sometimes added 1/2 teaspoon of garlic salt instead of the salt to the sauce mixture and that is also delicious!

Yummy! I've never heard of Amish Meatloaf, but sounded good! It definitely beats out the Lipton Onion Soup Mix Recipe that I use. Will use it again

I wish I could give this a million stars. I'm always trying different meatloaf recipes because I've NEVER been satisfied with what I have tasted. Well I will look no longer. This is THE ONLY meatloaf recipe allowed in my house. Thanks for posting. ChefRaylene

This is the only meatloaf I have really enjoyed. Here's the thing though, I tried making this while my 2 yr old was climbing all over me so I accidentally added more ketchup than called for. I cut the recipe in half, used 1 full cup of cracker crumbs and added 1 full cup of Ketchup! I thought it looked like a lot but by the time I was able to look at the recipe again it was too late. The results however were OUTSTANDING!! So needless to say I will definitely be making this again and yes with all that ketchup. Thanks for posting a meatloaf recipe I finally like!!
