C T's Swedish Meatballs (Crockable)

Recipe #206646 | 5¼ hours | 5 min prep | add private note

By: CheapThrills
Jan 21, 2007

Very creamy comfort food. Originally made as OAMC CrockPot meal, and it froze very well. Originally called for yogurt, which separated, so use full-fat sour cream instead. Uses pre-made meatballs (yours or store-bought).

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
If preparing immediately: Thaw meatballs. Place meatballs in CrockPot. Add all additional ingredients. Cook on LOW for 4-5 hours.
  2. 2
If freezing: Place meatballs in a large freezer zip bag. Add all additional ingredients. Label bag, then double bag.
  3. 3
To cook from frozen: thaw bag in refrigerator 24 hours. Empty contents into CrockPot and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours.
  4. 4
To serve either way: cook 2 cups wide whole wheat or white, egg or eggless noodles. Or cook 2 cups brown rice. Serve meatballs and sauce over noodles or rice.
  5. 5
Good with green beans, beets, carrots, dark green salad.

This was good, but it really didn't taste like Swedish meatballs to us. I have never known swedish meatballs to be this creamy and cheesy tasting. If I make this one again, I will probably take out some of the sour cream and cream cheese. Thanks for sharing.

I just made this last night and it was so good!!! I actually made it on the stove top instead of in the crockpot by making the gravy first, then adding the meatballs. This recipe exceeded my expectations by far I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!!Thanks!!

I made this for my daughter's graduation party. Everyone went crazy over them and I have had two requests for the recipe. I did add water as suggested. Thanks for a great recipe@

This was very rich, even for me...so I added about 2/3 C water. We had it with egg noodles, and it is now a family favorite...good enough for a dinner club choice!!
