Fantastique Jam Jar French Dressing - With a Twist!

Recipe #206527 | 10 min | 10 min prep | SERVES 6 -8 , 1 250 ml bottle (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: French Tart

A very easy French Dressing with a few twists. This is a make ahead recipe wth a yield of about 250 mls or 1/4 pint; it keeps for about 7 to 10 days with no problems at all. I have stated dried herbs & seasonings - you can use fresh herbs & seasonings too, but this decreases the keeping time slightly. The oil content in this is considerably lower than most classic French dressings - making it a healthier option, and you know what has gone into it too!

Ingredients

  • tablespoons olive oil
  • tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • teaspoons dried shallots or dried onions
  • teaspoons dried garlic
  • teaspoon sugar or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Directions

    1. 1
Select a clean bottle preferably with a lip OR, as I often do, a clean jam jar!
    2. 2
Carefully measure all the ingredients into the bottle or the jam jar.
    3. 3
Give it all a good shake - making sure the lid is on securely!
    4. 4
Store in a cool and dark place.
    5. 5
Note: I do store this in the fridge when it is really hot.
    6. 6
It is also great to drizzle over roasted vegetables or to add to potato salad.

This was very easy to make and convenient that it could be made ahead. I used this over a simple lettuce salad and it was lovely but I think it probably compliments a more complex salad say with lettuce, strawberries and feta much better.

Reviewed for Zaar WOrld Tour 3 Great dressing. Simple to make and uses ingredients that we always have on hand. I thought that it may be a little too tangy for me- but got a nice surprise. Thanks for another great recipe. Photo being posted also

This was the first dressing I've made by myself; prior to this I was a devoted consumer shelved salad dressing...not anymore! Served over a salad with Where's the Tuna? (Tuna Burgers) Longmeadow Farm. I will definitely use this recipe again! Thanks for all your help!!
