This recipe (not mine, unfortunately) won 2nd place in a Texas chili cook off!

1 large pot of chili (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Brown the first 4 ingredients in heavy cooking pot.
  2. 2
    Add the last three ingredients and then heat to a hard fast boil.
  3. 3
    Turn down and simmer for 45 minutes.

I believe this recipe won 2nd place in a Texas chili cookoff. Unfortunately, any group of 2 or more can cook chili and call it a cookoff. I don't think this one won at any sanctioned event. Most award winning Texas Chili takes many hours to make. None under an hour. And none this simple. If it was easy, everyone would have an award-winning Texas Chili recipe.

    I find it hard to believe that this recipe won an award. It was thin and watery and had a terrible texture. I followed this recipe to the letter and it did not measure up to it's name.
