Spiced Banana Licuado

Recipe #203424 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note
Redneck Epicurean

By: Redneck Epicurean
Jan 5, 2007

This recipe came from a friend in my gourmet class from college. We did a beverage unit and we were to make a family favorite. She was from the southwest and her dad's family was from Mexico. I had never heard the word "licuado" used in a recipe before. I enjoyed the drink, but haven't made it in a while.

3 cups (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
In a blender, combine chilled milk, cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground nutmeg.
  2. 2
Add banana chunks, ice cubes, and brown sugar.
  3. 3
    Whirl until smooth.

This had a really nice, light flavor to it. I used two cups of unsweetened almond milk instead of regular milk to make it vegan and instead of using 1/4 cup of ice cubes and 1/2 cup banana, i just used an entire medium sized frozen banana, which enhanced the banana flavor and chilled the drink.

Good, but next time I think that I will use a bit more cinnamon and brown sugar, as it was a little plain for me. But it was still very good and I enjoyed it!

I made this for my daughter to go with her lunch, she really enjoyed it, tastes just like a banana eggnog!

We really enjoyed this one, too! Might add a bit more nutmeg and a bit more sugar next time, as well. Not a heavy drink at all.
