Mucho Gusto Taco Seasoning Mix

Recipe #199955 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note
Pot Scrubber

By: Pot Scrubber
Dec 10, 2006

This recipe has been going through constant revisions in my private recipe files for more than a year. It is now ready for its debut.

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine all the ingredients in a small container.
  2. 2
Brown one pound of ground beef or turkey and drain fat away. (I prefer ground turkey. There is no fat to drain away and it crumbles into tiny pieces very easily.).
  3. 3
Throw in seasoning mix and 3/4 cup of water and mix well with your ground meat.
  4. 4
    Simmer until thick --
  5. 5
Note: combine your taco meat with about half of a can of refried beans for a delicious burrito or chimichanga filling.

I came across this because I had run out of Taco seasoning for a slow cooked shredded beef recipe I was making. The smell of all these spices are fantastic. I didn't use the flours as I was worried that it would thicken it too much in the 9hrs my flank steak needed to cook. I took a wee taste after adding the liquid and all I can say this deserves more than 5 stars. Thanks Potsie this is a keeper.

Very good. The flavor is significantly better than the store bought packages. I mixed this up during an OAMC blitz, and stored it in a zip-top baggie until I needed it.

I used your taco seasoning recipe with great success last night. I added it to ground turkey and made layered taco salads. I liked this seasoning mix. It has a great mix of flavors, thickened well, and the tiny hint of heat was perfect for us. Thank you for sharing your recipe!
