This is easy to fix & tasty, but for me was a work in progress that invited additions to complete the taste experience. I added onion + garlic to do that, but also added red & green bell pepper just because I needed to use it. I esp liked the use of cheese which is usually absent from other recipes & the fact it is not swimming in sauce. I made it early in the afternoon & tasted it for this review. Then DH & I devoured the balance for dinner. As good as this was after 1st fixing it, it was so much better later in the day. I am embarrassed to say that in my haste to take a photo, I left the cheese off by accident! DH grabbed it & ate while I fixed another for him & mine (both w/cheese). Only when it was all gone did DH say he liked it better w/cheese on it! I will make this again soon & get the photo right, I promise. Yum!

Delicious sloppy joe. Nice balance of bbq/ketchup. I asked hubby which he wanted more of bbq or ketchup, he said ketchup, so I switched the amounts. Used ground venison, onions and peppers. Toasted buns and added sliced cheddar. Quick, easy and delicious comfort food.

This was a real hit on the DH scale. It had his favorite things hamburger, ketchup and cheese. I didn't add a thing and gave it to him on a plain bun and he was happy as a clam (I wonder how happy a clam really is?). Since he liked it so much I'm thinking that I might just make a full batch and stick 4 small bags of it in the freezer. Many thanks Lainey for something that he'll not just eat but actually enjoys.....although he did say that I should reverse the amounts of ketchup and BBQ sauce...men!
