Homemade Chocolate Cake

This cake is so moist and delicious. It is easy to put together, and you won't be disappointed with the results. The frosting is so light and creamy and compliments the cake nicely. Makes a great cake for all occasions.

    For Cake:.

    Sift together dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.

    Add Oil, coffee, and milk; and mix at medium speed for 2 minutes.

    Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 more minutes (batter will be thin).

    Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch x 1-1/2 inch cake pans (or two 8 inch cake pans, and six muffin cups).

    Bake at 325 for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Cool cakes 15 minutes before removing from pans.

    Cool on a wire rack.

    For Frosting:.

    Combine milk and flour in a saucepan; cook until thick.

    Cover and refrigerate, until cool.

    In a mixing bowl beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy.

    Add chilled milk flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes. Frost and decorate cooled cake.

Great recipe- a lot like the one we grew up on for birthday cakes. Thanks for posting ! We use cream cheese frosting.

    I've already made this a couple of times. Very easy, fast and good. Didn't use the frosting you recommended. Instead I layered the cake with whipped cream and topped it with some shaved chocolate. Thanks. Schin
