Garlic Bread Supreme

Recipe #184769 | 15 min | 5 min prep | SERVES 8 (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: puppitypup

A simple yet delicious garlic bread that's a good compliment to whatever main course you're having. I prefer it without the parmesan cheese, but you can add it if you prefer.

Posted on: Sep 6, 2006

Ingredients

  • lb loaf French bread
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • teaspoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic clove, crushed
  • pinch kosher salt
  • pinch italian seasoning
  • parsley, to taste (preferably fresh)
  • parmesan cheese, grated (optional)
  • Directions

    1. 1
Mix together the butter, oil, garlic, and salt.
    2. 2
Add the parsley and mix. (If using fresh parsley, I use about 1 Tablespoon. If using dried parsley, I use about 2 pinches.).
    3. 3
Cut the french bread in half, length-wise, so you have a top half and a bottom half.
    4. 4
Spread the butter mixture on both halves.
    5. 5
If desired, sprinkle about 1-2 Tablespoons of grated parmesan on each half.
    6. 6
Place each half "butter side up" on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 until heated through. Then turn to broil, watching constantly, to brown slightly. Be careful not to let it burn on broil. Broiling should take no longer than a minute.

I used half a baguette (did half the recipe for the 2 of us). I used dry parsley. And omitted the parmesan. We loved this. We will do this again. Thanks Puppitypup. Made for Zaar Star Game

Easy and yummy! I was so hungry when I came home from town today. I threw this together in no time and had with a big salad. Thanks!

We really enjoyed this. I mixed the parmesan cheese right in with the butter mixture before spreading it on the bread. Skipped the broiler part and baked the bread at 425 for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Excellent. thanks.

Yummy and simple to throw together. I decided to omit the parmesan as well. Thanks so much for sharing!
