I had clipped this recipe from a magazine many years ago...made it often and loved it! Lost the recipe in the early 90s after a move...have been searching all cookbooks i could find, sent letters to all the magazines i know i subscribed to and begged them to search for it...asked my mom and sisters to search for it as i had handwritten the recipe for them, but no one could find it...i have even searched on the internet, but never found the right recipe..until NOW...this is it..the best doggone "brownie" recipe ever created...thanks so much for posting it...you have made my day...i love it as it is, but i have added chocolate chips, and sometimes have added coconut...and always fantastic...it is moist, dark, and best of all, not too sweet....just sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top (and don't overbake them!) thanks forever, beve...

We loved these. I used whole wheat pastry flour and used applesauce for the shortening. Still great and the kids loved it in their lunches.

This really is a good, moist cake. You would never know there was oatmeal in it if you hadn't read the recipe. Even through it is a very rich, moist cake, my family opted for double fudge frosting. Thanks for sharing!

This used to be a childhood favorite of mine, sadly during a move my mom lost the recipe. These wonderful brownies brought back memories of making them with my mom.
