Oranges in Orange Flower Water

Recipe #173146 | 2½ hours | 2½ hours prep | add private note

Posted for the Zaar World Tour 2006-Morocco. From the "International Vegetarian" cookbook. I have not tried this recipe yet, but it sounds like a nice, light dessert. This dish can be served as either a dessert or a first-course salad. Orange flower water can be purchased at gourmet grocery stores or liquor stores. Note: prep time includes refrigeration time.

SERVES 4 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Peel oranges, removing white membrane completely with a knife; cut between membranes and lift out orange segments. Arrange each cut-up orange on a dessert plate so that segments resemble petals of a flower.
  2. 2
Sprinkle each serving with 1/4 teaspoon of the orange water, then cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  3. 3
To serve, uncover, sprinkle each serving with 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon powdered sugar. Spoon 1/4 cup yogurt into the center.

Loved it, I love the additional flavour that the orange flower water gives to this recipe. It's easy to make, refreshing and light both in texture, and in calories. A brilliant way to serve oranges. Please see my rating system: a wonderful 4 stars for a simple and very delicious recipe. I adore fruit, sadly my DH doesn't much.. I was hoping to convince him that he would really like this, but he didn't much. Too bad for him, he doesn't know a good thing when he tastes it ! I'm most happy to make this again. Thanks!

I make a very similar recipe and I must say that this is a wonderful dessert or breakfast. The orange flower water adds a heady perfume to the oranges. So healthy and delicous. I used regular, unsweetened, Greek yoghurt.

So good and so cute. I did not have orange yogurt so I mixed some orange zest and blossom water in vanilla yogurt. Great healthy dessert or salad! Thanks!
