Cabbage and Kielbasa

Recipe #172362 | 30 min | 10 min prep | add private note

By: Ms. MO
Jun 11, 2006

My husband didn't think he liked cabbage until I served this. The bacon and onion really give this recipe a lot of flavor.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon (reserving drippings in skillet); crumble, and set aside.
  2. 2
Add next 7 ingredients to bacon drippings. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, turning cabbage once.
  3. 3
Add sausage and cover and cook an additional 5 minutes or until sausage is heated.
  4. 4
Transfer to a serving dish with a slotted spoon. Sprinkle with the crumbled bacon.

Delicious & easy, cut the recipe in half for the 2 of us using polish sausage. We loved the spiciness of the crushed red pepper. Thank you for this very easy recipe!

This was Wonderful! Even my kids who usually turn their noses up at cabbage ate it without complaint! I was impressed. I love how easy this is to prepare! My husband and I have been discussing who should get the leftovers for today's lunch...sigh, I lost. Next time I will use a larger head of cabbage so there are more leftovers! This is definately a keeper!

This was great! DH doesn't care for spicy stuff, so I omitted the red pepper and substituted regular salt for the seasoning salt. I also doubled the bacon but removed a lot of the drippings. I love the hint of sweetness! It's just a wonderful combination of flavors that we really enjoyed - I'll be making it again. Thank you!

I really enjoyed this. I've done something similar in the microwave for years but I liked what the brown sugar and red pepper flakes added to the flavor.
