Authentic Shoo Fly Pie (Straight from Lancaster Co.)

Recipe #163320 | 45 min | 20 min prep | add private note

Born, raised & still residing in Lancaster County Amish/PA Dutch Country this is as authentic as it gets. This recipe is from the Mennonite Community Cookbook that's older than me & given to me by my mother. I saw a few other versions posted, but none were like this one. You could use 9 inch pre-pared pie crust but for the real deal you may want to start from scratch (see my Homemade Pie Crust (Pa Dutch Country) for the crust that goes with).

1 pie (change servings and units)

I can't wait to make this!!! As a kid my grandparents took us on a "working" vacation, to PA. He worked for Land o Lakes we went to a place called plain & fancy an amish family stlye resturant. It was awsome. All the food and desserts. This was one of my favorites. I had the worst tummy ache from eating so much. It was so good we couldn't help ourselves. Thank you so much for the happy memories. I will definatley make this and post a review.
