Googled for a lettuce wrap recipe and found not only this one, but the site. Great place. Great recipe. Just happened to have everything in the house except the mushrooms, so made the filling with red pepper instead. Excellent, and a bit more crunch. I didn't use oil or sugar. I subbed honey for sugar and just left out the oil. Didn't have the paste, so used garlic powder and a few red pepper flakes. Nice finish in the mouth. I ate four small ones immediately. Just loved them. My daughter asked me if we had a Chang's in my town, but as far as I know, we don't. I sent her the recipe to try at home. It's a keeper.

Lynn, yes, the ones you buy are made from ground chicken. I don't grind it though, I just chop it really fine. I don't think I said ANYWHERE that I use CUBES. I am going for the taste. THE TASTE IS THE SAME. If you can achieve the same taste without the bother of grinding the chicken, what difference does that make? Have a Blessed day. Lali

Just like the real thing! 10 of us have "Survivor" parties every week and we take it in turns to host. I made these lettuce wraps and they were a hit. A little tedious to prepare if you don't have a processor though.
