Italian Sausage Melt

This very tasty and only five ingredients. Adapted from Fast Fix Five Ingredient cookbook.

SERVES 2 -4 (change servings and units)

    Heat the broiler.
  2. 2
    Sauté sausage on medium high heat breaking them up as you go. Cook until no longer pink, about 8-10 minute.

    Drain on paper towel.
  4. 4
    Discard fat from pan.
  5. 5
    In same pan over medium heat cook peppers for 10 minutes or until brown edges form.
  6. 6
    Return sausage to pan along with the sauce and simmer until almost all the liquid has evaporated.

    Transfer into bowl and add 1/2 cup of the cheese.
  8. 8
    Place the bun halves on broiler pan.
  9. 9
    Divide and spread the sausage mixture on the halves.
  10. 10
    Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  11. 11
    Broil until bubbling and bread is crisp.

This is an awesome recipe! I love how it uses ingredients I usually have on hand and it's so easy to make. I used hot Italian sausage and provolone cheese. Wonderful!

    Made this on a night when I did not feel like cooking. Added some onion & mushrooms along with the green pepper as others have done. This was easy & delicious everyone enjoyed. Thanks!

    Wonderful! So simple and yet so tasty! My family loved it. Even my picky son. I added in the rest of a jar of flame roasted sweet peppers. I think it worked out to about 1/2 to 3/4 cup. This will be repeated in our house many times!

    I made this for the ZWT II. This was really good. I left out the vegtables, sorry left out the 'good' stuff. This was fast and easy, and makes a really good meal. Very tasty and did I mention easy?? This is a definate keeper!! I really enjoyed this KUDOS!!
