My DH is a huge Steelers fan. Ben Roethlisberger is the quarterback for the team and apparently pretty popular in the Pittsburgh area. DH heard about these burgers and had to have one! There seem to be different versions..this is a combo of 2 of them.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Combine beef and sausage, mix well.
  2. 2
Form six burger patties out of the meat mixture. Place in the refrigerator until chilled.
  3. 3
Grill patties to well done, 170°F.(There's pork in there!).
  4. 4
Near the end of grilling, top each patty with a slice of provolone and a slice of cheddar to melt.
  5. 5
    Toast buns.
  6. 6
Assemble burgers: bottom bun, bbq sauce, burger, bacon, ranch dressing, top bun.

This burger will "Touchdown" into my favorite burgers - I used "English Banger" sausage meat and I always have to have mushrooms, lettuce & Tomato but the secret of this burger is the combo of Pork & Beef AND the combo of cheeses,BBQ sauce the Ranch dressing. For the bun I used a 1/4 of an onion Paninni bread - great! Super Saturday Night Burger. Thanks for posting QueenofEverything — May 7, 2006

I tried your Roethlis-burgers and an interesting thing happened. After I cooked the burgers, I kept trying to put them onto the buns, but I couldn't quite make it. I kept dropping the burger patties just short of the bun, but every time I did, the referees in the kitchen still raised both hands in the air and called it a "touchdown," even though anyone who looked at a tape of me trying to drop the burger onto the bun could see that it was nowhere near a "touchdown." I guess having a referee with poor eyesight helps in the kitchen, as well as on the playing field in Detroit. R.S. Lindsay — Seattle, WA

My mom owns a cafe, we live in PA and this was on her cafe lunch menu for the customers, the day after the Superbowl. They were a huge hit! Her regular customers, who are devoted Steeler fans and her employees keep asking when these burgers will be put on the menu again. Thanks for posting!

Very tasty. I made these for our Super Bowl party.I made them as written. Evereyone liked the combination but they all said they would have preferred them with tomato and lettuce. I had to use regular hamburger buns but they were still good.
