Hearty meal for cabbage lovers.

SERVES 6 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Chop onions, bacon or pork, potatoes and carrots.
  2. 2
    Fry onion and bacon or pork until onion is soft.
  3. 3
    Add the cabbage, fry for 10 minutes until it starts to soften.
  4. 4
    Add the rest of the vegatbles and spices, with beef stock. Simmer for about 30 minutes until all vegetables are done.

    Serve with lingonberry or cranberry jam.

Unbelievable. We forgot about the syrup and used seasoned-salt. Threw in halfed Okra pods (they were there). We also used bacon and corned-beef. This is the best meal i have had in weeks.

    This is a wonderful comfort food dish! I used smoked ham hocks. Wonderful flavor! I didn't serve it with jam, but I did add dark Karo syrup at the end! Thanks for the wonderful dish!

    I followed the recipe exactly, but didn't serve with jam. We did have some Scandinavian meatballs on the side. Real comfort food. The syrup was an unusual but tasty addition. Thanks for sharing this one.
