Sunflower Oats Bird Treats in a Jar

Ingredients

• 1 cup quick oat
• 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
• 3/4 cup sunflower seed, in hulls
• 1 cup millet
• 3/4 cup yellow cornmeal
• 3/4 cup whole wheat flour

Directions

   Layer ingredients in order given; oats first.

   In 1 quart wide mouth jar -- press each layer in firmly before adding next ingredient.

   Sometimes I combine cornmeal and flour together and place this on the bottom of jar then start layering.

   ATTACH THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS:.

   Empty all ingredients from jar into a large bowl.

   ADD: 1 CUP PEANUT BUTTER, SMOOTH OR CRUNCHY AND 1/2 CUP WATER.

   Mix very well -- add more water if necessary to make a stiff dough.

   Spread in a 9x13" baking pan.

   Score with a knife into 2"x4" bars. Leave bars in place to bake.

    Bake at 250* for 20 minutes.

    Leave in pan on rack to cool -- cut into bars along precut lines.

    Feed wild birds with 1 bar.

    Keep remaining bars refrigerated until needed.
