Carol's Soft and Chewy Chocolate Chippies

Recipe #13563 | 25 min | 15 min prep | 48 -60 cookies (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: Dawn

Mrs. Fields- step aside. Here are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted. The secret to these soft and chewy cookies is the pudding mix not found in the traditional cookie recipe. Ever wonder how the bakery comes up with a soft chewy cookie- well now you know!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • teaspoon vanilla

    1. 1
      Preheat oven to 375°.

In a large bowl, combine butter, sugars and pudding mix.
    4. 4
      Beat until smooth and creamy.
    5. 5
Beat in eggs; gradually add flour mixture.
    6. 6
      Stir in chips and nuts.
    7. 7
Roll into balls and flatten slightly or drop by teaspoon full on a non greased cookie sheet.
    8. 8
Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes.
    9. 9
Note: You may use instant chocolate pudding instead of vanilla pudding for a chocolate chocolate chip cookie.

This is a long over due review. These cookies are fantastic! I made these at Christmas. Everyone LOVED them, especially my hubby so I made them again for him on Valentine's. He decided to be generous and took them to work. By lunchtime his cohorts had him calling for the recipe. I followed the recipe exactly using milk choc. chips and not forgetting to add the vanilla, as it is left out in the directions. The second time I prepared the dough a week early, wrapped it up in saran wrap, sealed it in tupperware, tucked it in the fridge and then let it sit out just a bit before spooning on to sheets and baking. They turned out great! Very handy when you have little ones to tend to. Thanks for a truly delicious, chewy cookie recipe! UPDATE: I accidentally grabbed banana cream pudding instead of vanilla. My husband exclaimed 'I think we're onto something here'! They turned out delicious!

These were extremely easy to make and hard to mess up. I'm eating one as I type! I used Caramel-Chocolate chips and no nuts. Mine were absolutely perfect at exactly 10 minutes of being in the oven and are very soft and chewy hours later. I used french vanilla pudding mix and can't wait to try it with the chocolate!** Update I've used chocolate and chocolate pudding...both are amazing! I've also used the chocolate mint chip and that worked great as well... it's only a hint of mint. I also tried the Jello brand pudding Oreo's cookies and cream and let me tell you that was actually the WORST one! It was so bland and so plain I will never make that mistake again. Gave this winning recipe to a friend, he made it as directed (with choc pudding) then topped eat flattened ball with a couple mini marshmellows.. they were so amazingly good! He also made it with less flour and more sugar and those were fudgy brownie type cookies, great as well. This recipe is requested all the time in my circle of friends and family now!

I normally like my cookies a little on the crisp side, but decided to give these a shot. I'm so glad I did- these are the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever tasted. The were ever-so-slightly crisp on the outside, chewy and delicious on the inside. The pudding adds an unimaginable level to these... perfect!!! (posted 2/16/2002) UPDATE: I made these again, this time with the chocolate pudding, and a couple of cups of oatmeal thrown in. My dinner club group attacked the plate when I brought it out, and literally devoured it down to the last crumb! These cookies are really the next level!

The only time my mother can lure me into her kitchen is with a great cookie recipe. Well, she found it. This recipe also proved there is nothing wrong with her stove. These cookies are simply the best! I plan to make dozens and distribute to neighbors, friends, and coworkers. All you skeptics out there don't let this recipe pass you by! There are no words for this one! WOW :O :> :I Yum.
