Red Clover Tea

Red clover is one of God's greatest blessing to man and grows just about everywhere! It is very pleasant to take and a wonderful blood purifier. In Back To Eden, an herbal book, it says it is excellent for cancer of the stomach. Red clover is quieting to the nerves, efective in spasmodic, bronchial troubles, is healing to fresh wounds as well as old ulcers, and makes an excellent healing salve. Gather them in the summer when in full bloom, dry in the shade on papers. Put in paper bags when dry and hang in a dry place. Use this tea in place of caffinated tea and you will have spendid results. This can also be used to make iced tea. Red clover grows all over the US and fits into New England, Mid Atlantic, Mid West, West, Southwest, and Southern regions.
SERVES 4
Ingredients
- 1 cup red clover blossoms
- 2 tablespoons mint (spearmint or peppermint)
- 4 cups water
- honey, to sweeten (or use sugar)
Directions

Inspect flowers and make sure there are no bugs. Also make sure the flowers have not been sprayed.2
Bring the water to a boil. Remove from heat.Add clover blossoms and mint. Steep about 10 minutes. Strain. Add honey or sugar to taste. Enjoy!3
I air dry red clover every year and keep in plastic sealed bags. Make iced tea with it using 6 cups water and 2 decaf tea bags, adding the mint and red clover. Very good for you and tastes great!

I would add to Sharon's concerns about flowers being sprayed. They can also be contaminated if they are in a lower grassy area from someone else's yard that frequently uses fertilizers or other chemicals subject to run-off. I think growing gomphrena is a better choice since you can control its organic quality by growing in flowerpots or areas safe from runoff.

Absolutely wonderful! My highly trained, herbal wise oncologist said that I could no longer partake of this delightful brew. For those of us with hormone positive breast cancer, red clover is forbidden. Such a shame, really, but Sharon123 has many delicious teas to choose from.

This was so good!!! I am not usually a tea drinker and have never made tea without a tea bag....but feeling very playful today....so I picked some red clover!! I am going to air dry some like you suggested so I can have this all year long! Thank you for posting such a wonderful recipe!!!!
