I made this with some sirloin steaks that looked like they would be tough, and they turned out falling-apart tender. This is a delicious meal that even my picky eaters devoured. Great to eat with crusty bread to sop up the sauce. I used a can of beef broth instead of the water and beef bouillon, otherwise followed recipe as written. I'm going to try this with venison as well, I'm sure it will be wonderful.

This was a tasty simple meal. It was ready for us when we got home from work. I served it plain with a salad but it would be good to serve over noodles or rice.

My family was really pleased with this recipe. My daughter asked if she could just drink the broth. Next time, I will add some red and green sliced peppers. Made a nice gravy to put over garlic mashed potatoes.

DH made this over the weekend and it smelled amazing cooking in the crock all day. He lightly sauteed the celery and onion in the pan after the steak, drained the oil and then combined the 'remaining' ingredients in the pan getting all the 'yummy pieces' sraped up and added to the crock. He was VERY pleased with himself for thinking that up! Thanks for such a great recipe!
