Fantastic recipe! I love how I don't need my bread machine to rely on now
I used to be scared to work with yeast but after I found this recipe and tried it and Kittencal's French Bread/Baguette I don't need a bread machine anymore! Both worked great for me, your instructions are perfect.
The texture and flavor was excellent! I love homemade breads. Thanks Kitten for sharing your wonderful recipes!

I made this recipe in tribute to Kitten's DH John who recently passed away. This review was done as part of a cook-a-thon in his memory. I made this bread in my bread machine and LOVED it! Perfectly crispy outside and super soft and delicious inside. I also didn't change one thing in this recipe (which is rare for me!) This bread is even better today sliced and toasted in the toaster. Tastes like bakery quality bread. I have to 2nd a previous reviewer's comment that you won't go back to buying store bought bread after making this winner! We LOVED it! Yet another delicious recipe from Kitten.

Wonderful bread!! I used 3 1/2 cups flour and melted butter in the recipe and it turned out great. Love the texture. Served this plain and toasted with a roasted garlic spread. I cut off about 6 inches from the ends and split them lengthwise to make a sub buns for lunches. This is a recipe that with your awesome instructions would be great for a beginner bread maker.

Oh boy, these were awesome! At the last minute I decided to make these for supper tonight, we were having company and the bread rivaled the main dish! This will be our bread of choice. Love the crispy crust and the soft center, just perfect. I was pretty impressed at how simplistic it was. Yum!
