Intensely Chocolate Cocoa Brownies

A rich brownie that is mixed in a sauce pan on the stove. Easy, dense and SOOOOOO good!!

SERVES 9 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

    Melt butter in sauce pan. When melted remove from heat. Add cocoa and stir well. Add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix until shiny and smooth. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Add choc chips or walnuts if desired.

    Pour into an 8 inch or 9 inch pan. Bake for 15-20 miutes. Do not over bake. Look for edges slightly pulling away from pan. Cool and cut. Enjoy!

i used cocoa that's grown right here in Costa Rica. I buy it in bulk. There were great, I have to confess, I ate them all accept for one piece I gave to my partner. I'm diabetic and will try splenda next time and let you know how they turn out.

    Really good and very chocolately. So easy too. I baked mine for 15 minutes and it was a tad overbaked so watch your cooking time.

    Oh, the flavor!! The texture!! These are "go make your own brownies cuz I'm not sharing" brownies...9 servings? Yeah right--give me the entire pan, and watch that 9 become a 1! Oh yeah, and it doesn't hurt that this is darn near the easiest brownie recipe I've tried...one wonders why anyone would ever use a boxed mix when there are recipes like this out there. Thanks, R Foodie!

    i just tried this recipe and i substituted the butter with unsweetned apple sauce and i omitted the nuts and chocolate chips. turned out GREAT, very chocolatey and light too!!
