Baked Cranberry Apples(Crock Pot)

Crisp apples stuffed with cranberries, brown sugar and walnuts, slow cooked, make a wonderful dessert! This would be good for breakfast too! Yum! From Just Berries. Apples and Cranberries are grown in New England and also Canada!

SERVES 5 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

    Peel each apple about a fourth of the way down; remove core and seeds.
  2. 2
    In a small bowl, combine cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and walnuts.
  3. 3
    Spoon cranberry mixture into center of each apple.
  4. 4
    Place in a 4-quart or larger crock pot.
  5. 5
    Cover and cook on low 4 to 5 hours or until apples are tender.
  6. 6
    Serve warm or at room temperature.
  7. 7
    Top with whipped or sour cream, or vanilla ice cream, if desired.

    Enjoy!

I made this once with granny smith apples and it was so delicious that I made it again with a half-dozen MacIntosh apples. Fun, easy and delicious.

    This was a wonderful treat! I couldn't find fresh or frozen cranberries (not the season) so I used sweetened dried, which worked perfectly to balance the tart Granny Smiths I used. I also used 2 1/2 TBS of Splenda Brown Sugar blend with excellent results. After about 3 1/2 hours on low, the apples puffed and oozed, no longer keeping their shape, but they still tasted delicious - especially with a generous dollop of Cool Whip. Thank you so much for posting! Reviewed for ZWT 4.

    Scrumptious. I did it with three granny smith's (and relative amounts of the other ingredients), but didn't put in the walnuts. Simply delicious. I'll definitely make it again!
