Harry Potter Hot Butterbeer

Recipe #105806 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

By: darthlaurie

I don't know if any of you have wanted to try butter beer when you read the Harry Potter books, but I just found this recipe on a Harry Potter birthday party website and I think I'll have to give it a try!

SERVES 1 (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Melt butter.
  2. 2
Pour Root beer into a microwave-safe glass and heat for 30 seconds or as needed so it is moderately warm.
  3. 3
Warning: If it is warmed too much, it won't be fizzy!
  4. 4
Pour 1 teaspoon of melted butter into the Root Beer a little at a time, stirring constantly until well blended.
  5. 5
    Gently stir in cream.
  6. 6
It may take a few times to determine the amount of butter and cream needed to make the perfect-tasting Butterbeer!

We were looking for a butterbeer recipe to make for a Harry Potter Scene It party (Scene it is a movie game) and this was the first one we tried, because it looks like it would be good (and very simple). I think the heated aspect of the drink was what we weren't over the moon about (and maybe too much butter). Thanks for posting, though--it's very interesting to see how people have imagined fictional drinks!

This is a good receipe, but subbing the cream for one Lifesavers Butterum melted into a mug makes a really nice flavour, and a cute little fizz when added

My two daughters and their friends rated this recipe a winner — so did I! The consensus proclaimed the drink "fun, warm, and yummy!" The younger daughter suggested we put the butterbeer back into the root beer bottle for an authentic feel, so with the help of a funnel, we did, and that was kinda fun too. I used 1 tablespoon butter per bottle, and nonfat half-n-half. A good after school or family movie night drink. We keep root beer on hand now! Thanks for posting a popular recipe, darthlaurie!
