Kittencal's Cheesy Parmesan Garlic Bread

Recipe #105726 | 25 min | 10 min prep | add private note
KITTENCAL

By: KITTENCAL

For a nice change substitute finely shredded white cheddar cheese for the Parmesan cheese and fresh chopped chives for the parsley --- I always keep the butter and garlic mixture in the freezer ready for when I need it, just bring to room temperature when ready to use, it's a big time saver and of coarse you may increase the amounts if desired — NOTE you may omit the mayonnaise and oregano and use just butter, garlic, parsley and Parmesan cheese, that way is still delicious!

1 loaf (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
    Set oven to 375°F.
  2. 2
Cut slices down the length of the bread about 1-inch intervals, without cutting all the way through.
  3. 3
In a bowl, combine the softened butter with mayonnaise, crushed garlic, parsley and Parmesan cheese; mix well to combine.
  4. 4
Spread the butter/garlic mixture between bread slices, and then on the top of the loaf.
  5. 5
Wrap the bread in heavy-duty foil (leaving the top partially uncovered).
  6. 6
Bake in the oven until heated through, about 15 minutes.
  7. 7
    Serve warm-- delicious!
  8. 8
TO MAKE AHEAD: Combine all ingredients (except the bread) store covered in refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze in a covered container ----- this bread can be made without the addition of the Parmesan cheese if desired, but of course it's better with the cheese!

This was excellent Garlic Bread. I did lightly toast the open faced loaf in the oven before I spread on the mixture.Crunchy all the way through this way. I also simply baked it open faced on a cookie sheet for ten minutes and a low broil for 1 1/2 minutes for color. Hands down the highlight at the dinner table exceeding the reviews on the Spaghetti sauce I spent two days making !! Oh yeah,I did'nt see the Oregano in the instructions so I still added it.Wow......

I made this bread to go with Linda's Spaghetti Pie. Loved the flavors of the garlic and butter on the bread. I used 1 T. of garlic and it was good, but I may up it to 2 T. next time for even more flavor. The mayonnaise was really a nice touch also. Will be making this again soon! LOVE this one Kitten!

All I can say Kittencal is delicious, delicious, delicious. This is the best garlic bread I have ever made and I have made a lot. My aunt and uncle were visiting us and we all love spaghetti so I made this to go with it. There were only two slices left; so four of us ate the whole long loaf. I made the garlic/butter mixture before we went to church so that it would be all ready and flavors blended. I used three cloves of garlic and WOW! was it good. It was so easy to make and the heating time was exactly 15 minutes. We all loved it. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. From now on I will make no other garlic bread than this. I am already thinking what I can have for supper this week to accompany this terrific bread.
