Christmas Scent

Recipe #102950 | 5 min | 5 min prep | add private note

This makes an excellent gift. Make sure you make some for yourself too though because it really smells wonderful. Please note, you need to use whole cloves. Ground cloves are much stronger and will definitely overwhelm the other scents. If you aren't a fan of cloves, feel free to leave them out entirely. I do sometimes.

1 jar (change servings and units)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1
Add orange and lemon slices to dry mixture of spices.
  2. 2
Put in a small sauce pan with 4 cups of water.
  3. 3
Simmer on low to release the fragrance.
  4. 4
TO GIVE AS A GIFT: put ingredients in a decorative jar.
  5. 5
Add enough water to fill jar.
  6. 6
Add a few drops of red food coloring.
  7. 7
Close securely and give with a small gift tag explaining how to use it.
  8. 8
Store in refrigerator when not in use, to prevent molding.
  9. 9
Can be simmered over and over again!
  10. 10
Note, I prefer to use the lesser amount of cloves so that they don't overwhelm the other fragrances.

This natural blend is a great scent not only for the holiday season but year around. Fills the house with the wonderful aroma of home baking. Putting the ingredients in a decorative jar for gift giving is an excellent idea. Love the photo!

This is a "must have" around my house in the cooler months(November to January). We love the scent of oranges and lemons simmered together with the spices. Truly a pleasure to smell a whiff of these in the air
